Please join GPS as we showcase our year-round clubs and programs. Whether you like to read books, watch anime or movies inspired by books, do crafty things, write stories, draw comics, or want to stay healthy, we have a club or program for you. Some of them are even meeting in the party room during the convention weekend! Check Cabana 110 for the schedule, as there can be late changes and we have things outside of convention party hours as well.

GPS Charity Auction

The GPS Charity Auction raises money for the many educational and community activities that we are involved in throughout the year, including Project Lighthouse and supporting the Event Horizon community center in NE Minneapolis. Thursday is preview night, with bidding beginning on Friday and Saturday. Items with 5 or more bids will go to live auction on Sunday morning. Only CONvergence members get to bid on the cool geeky things donated.

GPS Writing Contest Reception and Reading

Atrium 2 | Thursday | 5 pm – 6 pm

Winners past and present of the annual GPS Writing Contests will read from their winning work. Discussions also take place about the writing process and our local writing community.

Iron Pen Flash Fiction Contest

Plaza 2 | Friday | 11 am – 12 pm

Held in Connie’s Quantum Sandbox, contestants will write a 100-word story based on a surprise prompt item. Entries will be judged during the weekend and the winners announced at the end of the convention. Check the Sandbox and Cabana 110 to see the winners. First, second and third places will receive gift cards to a local comics and game shop.

U of M Raptor Center

Atrium 4 | Saturday | 9:30 am – 11:30 am

GPS sponsors the educational visit by the Raptor Center, a science demonstration with live birds of prey.

GPS Merchandise

Purchase t-shirts, travel mugs, stickers, clings and more with the GPS logo and help us promote our organization and your fine taste in hobbies. CONvergence has kindly allowed us to share shelf space in their own merchandise kiosk.
