This was GPS’ first club, formed with the goal to expand our critical horizons by comparing and contrasting films to their source material. We have read books by H. G. Wells, Robert Heinlein, Mark Twain, Jane Austen and other well known authors. We have also strayed from classic novels and short stories to read plays by William Shakespeare and the original screenplay for the Batman feature film. The club has become an education in literary and film history as well in how the film industry adapts written material. We also have a lot of fun!
The club meets on the second Friday of every month. Social time begins at 7 pm with the movie beginning promptly at 7:30 pm. Our gathering place rotates between the Geek Parnership Society’s space in the Waterbury building and various club members’ homes. Feel free to bring a snack to share!
Email the club for the next selection and the location for the meeting. Like our page on Facebook if you’d like to get to know club members better.
