Project Lighthouse STEM Grants

Project Lighthouse logo

Launched in 1999, Project Lighthouse began with sponsoring local published author visits to the St. Paul School system. It has expanded its educational grants to include presentations all over the Twin Cities from NASA, reptile and robotics experts, demonstrations from the University of Minnesota Raptor Center, the Como Park Zoo & Conservatory, the MN Zoomobile, the Science Museum of MN, Mad Science, and more. We were supporting STEAM (science, technology, arts, math) before it was cool.

The grant program has served numerous Minneapolis, St. Paul, and suburban area schools, recreation centers and libraries. GPS has provided educational entertainment to thousands of metro area children, ranging in age from 5 to 18. Our organization has relied on the rich, metro area fan base of talent, and nationally recognized education partners, to provide enriching experiences to our community.

In selecting a grant recipient, GPS reviews the school or institution and their goals, and their parallels to our own goals and mission. We select candidates that are

  • Open to the public
  • Non-exclusionary
  • Composed of people that share our interests and goals
  • Encouraging students to strive in math, science, engineering, and technology

If you have children or work with children, use this application to win a grant by sending it to projectlighthouse@geekpartnership.org.
