The weather is still catching up, but it is almost summer. June, filled with Graduation parties and off key choruses of “School’s Out” in all it’s variations. Urban farmers are thrilled to get their hands dirty, regular farmers just sigh and get on with it. All over the world geeky things are moving out into the light. Check it out.

Board of Directors Election Results
Date: May 14, 2013
As promised we elected new members to the Board of Directors or reconfirmed them:
George Richard was re-elected, Seth Chmelik has been elected to a full term, and Danielle McKay is joining the board, taking office July 1, 2013. Danielle succeeds Andy Murphy, who is stepping down to pursue other projects.

Crafty Geek

It’s time to get out and have fun, so Crafty Geek is reducing it’s summer schedule to every other week. We encourage you to keep on crafting. Weekly meetings will resume in September.

GPS Charity Auction at CONvergence
Dates for donations: All remaining CONvergence ConCom meetings and by appointment email us if you’d like to make a donation, or volunteer. Volunteers needed to help organize/inventory donations pre-con, create bid sheets, and help at the convention as well to set up, monitor the room, and at pickup/teardown.

ATC is going to the Drive-In! Bring your lawn chairs (and a blanket – it gets cold as the night goes on!) and hang out with everyone as we laugh, cry, and are generally moved by whatever films happen to be playing that night. Tickets are $8.50 per person and go on sale at 7pm. We tend to cluster just in front of and to the right of the snack shack, although we may shift due to persons already at the lot. Look for the ATC banner and join us for a night at the movies!

June: Photo Walk, along the north side of the river starting at the north east end of the Stone Arch Bridge, going west, and then back east. It is a beautiful area filled with photography possibilities. Also, a great walk to chat about the month’s events. In the event that Mother Nature decides to water the flowers that night, we’ll meet back at Event Horizon, room 106a. We’ll set up light boxes for miniatures and/or Jewelry photography. The weather is beautiful, get out and get some pictures. Take a friend!

Mark Time and Ogle Awards

Mark Time Awards judges, will be presenting at HEAR Now, an audio theater conference. HEAR Now is a “Sundance Film Festival for Audio Theater”. Jerry and Brian will be in good company, the world premiere of Neil Gaiman’s audio version of “Neverwhere”; Simon Jones, the original Arthur Dent in the BBC Radio’s Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy; and Phil Proctor of Firesign Theatre. Mark Time, representing GPS on the National Stage.
At CONvergence, please stop by the Mark Time Broadcast Central party room on the fourth floor to join us in making audio theatre. If that’s not enough, we will be hosting an audio contest to honor the 75th anniversary of “War of the Worlds”. Winners will be announced Sunday at 2:00. Look for us in the program guide, and of course look for us at Opening Ceremonies.
